1. Sum up your novel in five words, or less.
10. Now be honest, how do you really feel about NaNo?
Adventure…Intrigue…Loyalty…Identity…Redemption
Okay, so that's not really a summary, but those are the words that are on my storyboard. :)
2. Novel title?
Lanna: Brassy
4. Advice for newbies in three words?
Read, write, re-write
5. Tell us about your secondary characters, how do they affect the story?
I printed out this blog post by author MaryLu Tyndall about categorizing secondary characters. Works. Like. Magic. I love the way this gives me motivation for each and every word from each and every character in each and every scene.
6. Do you plan on staying up untill midnight on the 31st?
Maybe...if I do, I'll be ringing in the New Year bleary-eyed. :)
7. How many years have you done NaNo?
I haven't yet joined the NaNo-ing crowd, but this will be my first year participating in MyWriMo with Tarissa!
8. What came first, characters, or plot idea?
Actually, it was the first line that smacked me in the face as I was falling asleep. I entered the first 100 words in this GoTeenWriters writing prompt contest and it won!
"I was finally beginning to feel like the Princess I wasn't supposed to be."
9. How much prep do you do before November?
I didn't officially NaNo this year, but that first line haunted me and then that first 100 words flowed and Lanna wouldn't let me wait until the end of the semester before I started to dive into her story.
So I dove.
(That means my prep work was, um, zero.)
And now my word count is roughly 23,000.
So far, no prep is working for me. I get to run along with the mystery of it and there's very little room to insert a lot of heavy backstory up front (which I am prone to do) because it's still a little foggy yet.
10. Now be honest, how do you really feel about NaNo?
I would love to do it one year and win it! Alas, college will probably keep that from happening for a few years. :)

OK, after reading the first 100 words, I'm totally volunteering to proofread this story for you. :p
And yes, that is indeed a serious offer! Are you (or will you be) looking for proofreaders?
Kathleen
This is a great post! Your WIP sounds simply fascinating. The first line drew me in right away, and I must admit that I am quite intrigued. ;)
Also, I love the Go Teen Writer's site, so congrats on winning! *high-five*
Thanks, Kathleen, but not just yet. :) I'm still writing it.
Sky, thanks! Awesome ~ intrigue was just what I was going for! *high-fave back*
That's awesome! I missed that GTW round, so I only now read your first 100 words, but I can definitely see why they made you keep writing. Good for Lanna for twisting your arm, and best of luck finding the rest of her story!
Jenna, oh, she did! I'm glad, though. It's great getting to know her, though sometimes I wish she'd just hurry up and tell me what's happening! :)
Thank you!
Best of luck with your novel, Rachelle! I've never attempted NaNo but several of my blogger friends participate, and it sounds... demanding. =D
