Destiny Brought Them Together.
Will Tragedy Draw Them Apart?
Wow. With a setting like the fated Titanic, who isn’t entranced by By the Light of the Silvery Moon?
And the story contained within that beautiful cover does not disappoint. I found Amelia easy to relate to with her compassionate heart and eye for the outcast. Quentin was more intriguing because of the prologue that offers an up close look at a trauma he endured as a young child (Tricia Goyer’s excellent writing clued me right in to the fact that he was very young ~ loved how I could immediately tell that!). Each of the characters seemed very real and I loved reading about them.
I especially appreciated the way the author went to such effort to show everyone’s optimism about the Titanic’s being unsinkable–and yet neither Amelia nor Quentin felt perfectly comfortable with the complete faith everyone else put in the ship. It added to the tension and suspense, I think, for me to see all those colorful characters waltzing across the pages…knowing that in just a few short chapters, the unthinkable would happen. For knowing how the “end of the story” (of the ship, at least) would unfold, By the Light of the Silvery Moon kept me guessing.
For readers entranced by the story of the Titanic, this book will be a worthy addition to your bookshelf. Though it was released the year of the 100th anniversary of the sinking, this is a wonderful romance between a prodigal son and a young woman looking for the promise of a new beginning. I had tears in my eyes as I read the last few pages. (Although, for those of you have a copy already, my favorite page is 252.)

Eeeeep!! I am *so* pumped about this book. I love reading about the Titanic, and I'm waiting to find the perfect fictional account that matches the awesomeness I find in simply reading the authentic survivor stories. I've had this particular book by T. Goyer on my booklist for a few weeks now, but I'm more excited now that I have read a trusted friend's opinion. Can't wait to

It might be a little girly for a 14yo young man, but he just might love it, especially if he's a Titanic fan! :)
